SOLERGY Label on PVT collector from Abora Solar

At this year’s ISH exhibition in Frankfurt, one of the leading international trade fairs for energy and water technologies, the Spanish company Abora Solar stood out not only with their innovative PVT collectors, but also with the prominent display of the SOLERGY label. For Abora, the SOLERGY label has become more than just a label—it is a powerful marketing and communication tool that helps them highlight the quality, performance, and credibility of their products.

The innovative and consumer friendly SOLERGY label has been available for locations in the EU since 2016. The design originated with the European Energy Label (ErP), which provides easy-to-read information the energy consumption of many devices in the EU. DIN CERTCO and the Solar Heating Initiative (SHI) recognized the need for such a label for solar thermal collectors producing energy onsite. The new label added A- to AAA performance ratings showing the energy production capacity for different regions in the EU and different applications. A prerequisite for obtaining the SOLERGY label is that the collector already holds a valid certification—either the European Solar KEYMARK certificate or the OG-100 certification issued by ICC-SRCC in the United States.

A LABEL BUILT ON TRUST AND TRANSPARENCY

In particular, the Solar KEYMARK plays a central role: it is a voluntary third-party certification that demonstrates compliance with the relevant European standards as well as additional quality requirements. The Solar Keymark is recognized across Europe and beyond, and is often used by governments as an eligibility criterion for public support schemes. By ensuring that only certified, high-quality products qualify for the SOLERGY label, this framework strengthens trust among policymakers, investors, and end-consumers alike.

The use of the label is optional in the EU, but numerous manufacturers have seen the value and have opted to participate in the labeling program. All can be viewed on DIN CERTCO’s online SOLERGY directory.

ABORA SOLAR’S EXPERIENCE WITH SOLERGY

For Abora Solar, the SOLERGY label has proven to be a valuable asset. Speaking at ISH 2025, Anne-Julie Mahaut, Marketing and Communication at Abora Solar, emphasized:

With certification through TÜV Rheinland – DIN CERTCO, Abora Solar ensures that their collectors not only meet rigorous technical requirements under ISO 9806 and Solar Keymark rules, but also carry the SOLERGY label that makes this performance visible and understandable to the market.

WHERE CERTIFICATION MEETS MARKET COMMUNICATION

By prominently displaying the SOLERGY label at exhibitions, on their website and in marketing materials, Abora Solar has created a strong competitive advantage. The label is instantly recognizable, communicates complex technical data in a simple format, and builds confidence with clients and partners.

Abora Solar’s example demonstrates how the SOLERGY label can be integrated into both technical certification strategy and commercial communication. It is not only a guarantee of tested performance but also a storytelling tool that resonates with customers, investors, and policymakers.
